Today’s kids are wedded to their cell phones — for better or worse

Spencer Ingram got a cell phone two years ago and began texting all hours of the day — literally.
“We saw when it was taking place, and it was 5, 6, 7 o’clock in the morning and 1 a.m. at night,” said Spencer’s father, Doug Ingram. “It was all day, every day.”’
Ingram initially got a cell phone for Spencer, now 16, and for his 14-year-old son, Alex, as a convenient way to stay in touch. But he now has some reservations about the devices, even as his 12-year-old son Hunter lobbies for one.
